n our vibrant democracy each year there are elections at some state or the other and elections to the legislative assembly of Karnataka are nearing to be held in May 2018. It is very routine and usual for the politicians of all hue to make politically correct noises that may be heard or not and make such moves which have certain effect on the electorate. In an effort to consolidate their respective vote base and to target the gullible and electorally exploited sections of society with grandiose schemes by political parties is not new to us at all.
Continuing this trend is our own Eshwarappa of BJP. We have been hearing that he has started his own cult brewing group called Sangolli Rayanna Brigade to fight for the rights of all extremely backward communities including all factions of dalit. At a time when his parent party BJP is being branded as anti Dalit at the national stage probably he is making this move only to draw attention to himself as a prominent dalit leader outside his own party’s umbrella. This move by Eshwarappa may be to counter the existing image of strong AHINDA leader by Shri Siddaramaiah of Congress party who is the CM of Karnataka. This seems to be nothing but a highly self centered move to aggrandize oneself rather than attribute the action to the party he belongs and therefore has not gone down well within the state BJP leadership, who have expressed their strong reactions for any such activity outside the party’s sphere.
The present move by Eshwarappa has not only irked his own party’s bosses but also any right thinking Indian. His present action of trying to help all the communities which are extremely backward rings hollow since Eshwarappa was nowhere to be seen when Dalits were brutally assaulted in Sigaranahalli or Nittur a village in Hassan District by the upper castes for entering the village temple or differences in festivities. Even today the Dalits are ostracized and are economically starved since they are not being employed in their own village as a punishment for their actions. Instead of coming to the aid of hapless dalits of Eshwarappa is making hollow noises of protecting all those belonging to extremely backward communities which is nothing but to show himself as a prominent and Champion DALIT leader without actually doing any work towards empowerment of such communities. Not even figment of work has been done by him but only empty noises may be to project himself as the next CM face of Karnataka.
It is advisable that Eshwarappa to first fight for the DIGNITY and LIVELYHOOD of those hapless dalits of Sigaranahalli or Nittur village in case he really wants to emerge as a leader for all those communities for whom he is trying to build Sangolly Rayanna Brigade rather than making empty noises.
